In this poem fits an explanation due to the geographical, social and cultural differences common to Brazil. There is a very poor region in Brazil called Caatinga. Drought periods in this region can last for years, only the cacti make up the green color of the landscape, between houses with dry branches and beaten clay. All animals and the population of this region only have this vegetable as food, as they are in the image of the poem. Despite this, the population of this region feels a real passion for their lands, they go out during harvest periods to work in other regions and bring sustenance to families. That is why the nothingness they have is considered everything.
